This PNW Cougar medallion necklace is made up of several Pacific Northwest designs using the traditional white, red, and black. The medallion peice is an oval with the cougar off center and backed with a black leather. Finished with bone and larger necklace beads and a brass clasp.

 

Medallion Size: 4"x 2.5"

Length of ties (from medalion to clasp/tie ends): 12”

 

Our hand-stitched Medallion type Necklaces are created over several hours using size 11 seed beads. All of our Medallions are hand-sewn onto a beaded foundation with a layer of plastic and backed with leather for durability. This piece is also finished with the burnt bone pipe beads with matching stopper beads.

 

About the artist:

 

Rayne Pelham is the artist and curator behind Grandmother Spiders Design. She is a descendant of both the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and the White Earth Band of Chippewa. After many years as an educator and producing artworks on occasion, she is now turning her hobby into a career. She specializes in Native American-inspired designs producing art and jewelry that is truly unique.

 

The design studio's name is derived from the legend behind Rayne's Ojibwe name. Named when she was one, she is also, Nah quay Wa bun in nee go quay; translated she is Catches the Morning Sunrise Woman, a name given in honor of the story of Grandmother Spider.
