"Forest Animals in Patterns" Beaded Canvas. This piece is done in both acrylic paint and beadwork. This one-of-a-kind piece was hand-sewn using size 11 glass seed beads over hundreds of hours in intricate detail. The background in a light painted forest with leafless trees.  The forest animal images are hand beaded into the smae geometric design, but each done in different color variations with some part of the animal remaining a solid color for identification. This statement piece would look great on a mantel, in a well-trafficked entryway or entertaining space.

About the artist:

 

Rayne Pelham is the artist and curator behind Grandmother Spiders Design. She is a descendant of both the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and the White Earth Band of Chippewa. After many years as an educator and producing artworks on occasion, she is now turning her hobby into a career. She specializes in Native American-inspired designs producing art and jewelry that is truly unique.

The design studio's name is derived from the legend behind Rayne's Ojibwe name. Named when she was one, she is also, Nah quay Wa bun in nee go quay; translated she is Catches the Morning Sunrise Woman, a name given in honor of the story of Grandmother Spider.
